There are no 13-4 upsets in Food TV

The capper to a typically lousy first round in the tournament for this playa. I went for my usual 12-5 upsets, which didn't happen, and completely overlooked this 13-seed from the Mistake by the Lake. Oh, Food TV, at least you never let me down, except when there's an Ace of Cakes marathon, or an overabundance of tilapia dishes.

This week, there are more new installments on the Food Network. Their season seems to start in March. Paula's Best Dishes, the Neelys, Barefoot Contessa and 30-Minute Meals have new entries on Saturday.

On Sunday, Paula is making cookies and Big Daddy is showing us what to do with grits and eggs.

Over on Create, Lidia Bastianich is making a wonderful spinach risotto and using montasio cheese to make crisps on Sunday.

Bobby Flay is throwing down, Southern style, with a new shrimp and grits challenge, and a replay of his chicken fried steak throwdown with Paula. It's on Saturday, and repeats on March 29.

Warner Bros. Pictures and Rivals.com Team Up for Scholar Athlete Awards

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
BRENTWOOD, Tenn. (Nov. 16, 2006) –

Rivals.com, the Internet’s leading college sports and recruiting website, has teamed with Warner Bros. Pictures and its upcoming, highly anticipated film release, “We Are Marshall,” to honor the nation’s elite student-athletes with the first Scholar Athlete Awards scholarship program.
Competition for the Scholar Athlete Awards is open to U.S. high school seniors and college freshmen and sophomores who have compiled an outstanding record of academic achievement, involvement in extracurricular activities and community service as well as excellence in one or more varsity sports.

A $2,000 college scholarship will be awarded to the national winner, five regional winners will each receive a $1,000 scholarship, and all six winners will receive a trip for two to the Los Angeles premiere of “We Are Marshall” on Dec. 14, where they will be recognized in a formal ceremony.

Students can apply online at wearemarshall.rivals.com until Nov. 20, and winners will be announced on Nov. 24.

Based on true events, "We Are Marshall" stars Matthew McConaughey in the inspiring story of how a small town in West Virginia, steeped in the tradition of college football, struggled to restore their community after a devastating plane crash that took the lives of nearly the entire Marshall University football team. The film will be released nationally on Dec. 22.

“I am absolutely delighted to present these awards with Warner Bros. Pictures,” said Bobby Burton, chief operating officer and editor in chief of Rivals.com.  “This is an excellent way to recognize top student-athletes while honoring the memory of the Marshall University players who were lost too soon.”
